On May 25th I wrote up a list of summer goals for myself. Let's see what I've accomplished and what I need to work on...
  • Collabs - done. Finished a decent amount of illustrations and have some ideas stored in the noggin'
  • Marvel t-shirt design - done. Currently awaited voting process
  • Sketch Group challenges for every week - haven't gotten any promps, so...limbo
  • Sketching whenever I can - doing well on this!
  • Watch Craigy Ferg Late Late show every day - about two weeks behind. Sorry, Craig
  • Job - work work work, makin' money
  • Staying Alive - Checked my pulse...still here.
Not too shabby.

Here's the sketching whenever I can part! I even take my sketchbook to work so I can doodle while on break.
I'm planning on colorin' some of these, so they'll be up when I get around to it.

I found a spiffy photo of a man wearing a jacket so I used it as reference. The character I drew out of my head, but he ended up looking like the main character from a British show called, Luther. Hm...

I'm going to try to make this sketch into a full illustration. There's colors floating around in my head for this.

I watched Captain America for the first time today. It was incredibly fondu, so cheesy. Also, despite some snarky comments I made on the page while watching the movie, I did enjoy it. Anyway, I sketched up the transition of Steve Rogers as I watched the movie.

Guess what I just finished? The contest entry for the Marvel tshirt design for WeLoveFine. I'm so excited! I just submitted it and now waiting for it to be accepted so it appears on the site. I really hope something good will come from this opportunity. I just couldn't pass up a chance for people to see my work somewhere else, even if I don't win, but fingers crossed for winning something. Maybe The Mr. Loki-Man will like it....I did give Loki a very flattering sunhat for the occasion. You just have to look your best for Doctor Octopus' most epic master plan.

Enough of my chitter chatter...here's the final design along with the banner shown for the selected color choices you hopefully will be able to purchase in the near future.
By the way, you can go to WeLoveFine to vote for my design! Voting starts July 6th and ends July 27th. Please vote, preferably for me, but there are some pretty nifty designs up. I will be so grateful though, and probably will give you a cookie...could be real or a picture of a cookie, still a cookie.

Zipping mouth...

I found a great opportunity! A tshirt design contest for a fabulous company called welovefine. The goal of the contest is to create a design for basically any Marvel villain. There are a whole bunch of prizes and one of the prizes is decided by the judges. Who is one of the judges? Why, the oh so debonaire Tom Hiddleston, Loki. Even if I don't win, I'd at least like to have my art up there for people to see. It's a way to get my name and work spotted. There's some really amazing competitors that have already submitted work. I decided I'd have a go any way, and come up with something light hearted and funny. My main idea was what would villains do if they hung out and weren't fighting their opponents.

AN EVIL BRO TEA PARTY, duh.
It's a nice little social gathering for the usual beaten villains. Tea soothes their woes.
Here's Doctor Octopus being a fantastic host to Loki, Red Skull, and Mister Sinister.

My ideas are usually sketched out pretty roughly when I'm working for myself. For school (or future employer, nudge, here's a cookie) I clean up the sketch and refine it until there is a pile of tracing paper scattered all over my desk.

I then went to illustrator (true love) and started to mess about on there. This next bit was made weeks ago. I was getting some help from the boyfriend, but he went off to nowhere's land Indiana, so I was left captain of the ship, unfortunately; I ended up getting busy with other parts of my life and abandoned ship...whoops. I came back to it this morning, realizing there was a tonnage of things to change.

Egads, look at those colors. I have no idea what I was thinking!

TADAH!
Here is the progress. It's still on the life support machine____

Here's a random dream story (relation to super heroes...ahem.):
I had a dream that I was Spider-Man as myself, but then the dream randomly switched and I was Peter Park, but thinking as myself. I took a shower and when I got out I had to fight this person with a bear head, so I rushed outside in just a towel. I was hopping around on one foot while trying to get the Spidey suit on, clutching the towel around my waist with one hand, while trying to get the suit leg up on the leg I wasn't hopping on. It was so hard to get the suit on because I was still wet from just getting out of the shower. Water and spandex...difficult situation.

There ya go. I swear my life doesn't just consist of superheroes.

I've been wanting to practice proportions for the body when it's doing action poses. Since I've been watching a tonnage of super hero shows and reading comics I've been doodling in my sketchbook various poses of the action pack characters. Here are some quick spider-man sketches I did before work this morning. I just recently finished a photoshop sketch of one of them.

I made this teacup illustration a few weeks ago. For some reason I forgot to put it up here. I wanted to make a 'feel good' moment. This was a fun illustration to play around with textures. This was partially made with illustrator (mug, teabag, tea, and smoke) and then I drew in the little lady and some shadows with photoshop. I'm starting to really like the way I can use the two programs together. Now it's time to go make some tea, mmm, caffeine.

I've been reading a lot of Deadpool lately. So much that I had a dream about him last night where he was riding a whale and had the whale swallow me. I made a camp site all Pinocchio style inside that whale. Anyway...

so...yeah...sketched him quickly before work. Colored him for a little while after work.

I know vikings weren't very nice people, but they have always intrigued me, and my little fantasy world in my head has made them less threatening, more like powerful dancers.

Photoshop practice sketch.
I think maybe I didn't plan out the legs enough. Yeah?

Oi, so I've fallen behind by a week. My job took over. It's going all right. I finished up the training week and now I will adventure more into the food business world. I think once I grasp the job I'll be able to feel like doing things after work, haha. More art!

Here's a Hipster Grim Reaper enjoying some ice cream or frozen yogurt...whatever floats his boat. I'm not sure what does, besides the river Styx. Gosh, I'm lame. Anyway, I'm thinking about putting him on a shirt.
